Antonius Hegge (1920-1944) In the Second World War, when the
German occupation of the Netherlands began, Antonius Josephus Rudolphus
Hegge – known as Ton – was a young 19-year-old. In 1942, like many
young men under occupation, he was forced to move to Germany and to work
there. In 1943 he escaped from Berlin, went
back to the Netherlands and joined the Dutch resistance. He was arrested by
the Germans in early 1944 and subsequently executed in The Hague. Addie Van
